Welcome to our journey on life, love, family, and our number one hobby “TRAVEL”. We are Jose & Doris, a traveling couple that have been married for over 30+ years. We met as teenagers and have been growing up together ever since. Come join us on our journey as we share our “TravelVlog” with you while “Playing Outside after 50”.

Our Story

Jose and I met in 1988 and have three beautiful grown children, Andrew, Cassondra, & Little Jose and three precious grandchildren, Atina, Zoey, and Legend “Little Lion”. We have been traveling together for a very long time however we have always dreamed of traveling on the open road full time in the USA.

Story

There is something about traveling on the open road and feeling so free.

We wish it was an easy task to get started on our journey, however, every time we got a little closer to our dream, something came up in our family and our plans got delayed. So we buckled down, got serious about our goals and gave ourselves five years to focus and execute our plans. We traveled to different RV Shows to view the latest model of RVs and to narrow down our search. We did a lot of research on RV ownership. We paid off our debt, sold our house, put money away for our exit plan. On October 2021 we bought our first travel trailer and hit the road. We purchased a Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS Travel Trailer and named her MaryCarmen after both of our mothers. Our first state we visited was NOLA, New Orleans (Mardi Gras Town) then onto TEXAS (everything is bigger in Texas).

Adventure

Travel is the food for the soul.

We have been on the road one year now and decided to post our adventures on our YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@playingoutsideafter50 During our five year plan, Jose lost his father and I lost my mother. We would have never figured in a million years they would not be here to join us on our adventures, but life had other plans. During this year on the road we both experienced much needed healing and overcoming grief. The open road has given us a new prospective on life and we welcome new experiences, and new spaces to grow, and with the Lord’s help, Nothing is Impossible. One day we will settle down and build a little house and grow old together but at this time we are young, strong and ready to conquer the whole wide world! We’ll Check In………

I have a hard time describing myself. I am a hard worker, a servant leader and I love my family and friends. I am a retired Police Officer of 22 years with the Kissimmee Police Dept. in Florida and I mentor the youth in our community. I love sharing my life and adventures with the love of my life Doris. My wife says I never sit down and relax, but there is so much to do. My favorite hobbies are woodworking and traveling. My Slogan is “Work Hard Play Hard”!

Doris

I am a little bit of an introvert but I become an extrovert around my family. My love language is “Quality Time & Hospitality”, I love spending time with my friends and family. My gift in life is the ability to place myself in someone else’s shoes and see the world through their eyes. I feel most free when I am traveling and seeing different people and different spaces in the world. I get great pleasure in seeing how other people live. Real Estate was my last job before we got on the open road but the job that has given me the most joy is raising my children. If I could describe myself, I would say I am a plain Jane with a big heart. I am very blessed to have a wonderful support system in my family and the love of a great man “Jose”. My slogan is “Take a Nap” it does make a difference! My favorite quotes: “This too Shall Pass” & “Where there is a Will, There is a Way”.
